Application: Naval Base — Fan Drives

Problem: This MOD naval base had over 200 air conditioning units on site. To support the maintenance function, the spare belt inventory was immense. In total, the site needed 136 different belt lengths. Subsequently, the stores held about 1,750 spare belts at any one time. The spares inventory was very difficult to manage and correct replacement belts difficult to locate, wasting the time of engineers and stores.

Solution: The site decided to phase in detachable belts as replacements in order to simplify stocks. Engineers can now carry a pack of SuperTLink with them and replace belts immediately without wasting time returning to the stores. The spares inventory can be reduced to just a few reels of the main sections SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC to cover the whole site.
