Application: Steel Rolling Mill Drive

Problem: The steel rolling mill was fitted with 12 fabricated F section rubber belts. Each belt was 35 meters long, the drive pulley is 1.3 meters and the driven pulley 4.7 meters. The drive is powered by a 500HP/420 rpm motor. The belts were due to be replaced but the site engineer could not source a cost effective replacement. Replacing the existing belt would cost £44,000 and take a full week to fit.

Solution: Specifying F Section NuTLink belts reduced the new belt costs by 50%. The fitting time was also reduced to just two days, hence minimizing downtime on the line. Despite the reduced cost, the NuTLink belts provided the same transmission capability and belt life expectancy as the original belts.
