Industry: Iron & Steel Processing

Application: Heat Treatment Stove
Fan Drive

Problem:
The fan drive is located on top of a heat treatment stove in a steelworks. Four B section 1.5m belts are fitted to each drive. The belts operate in extremely high temperatures which was causing premature failure of rubber belts. The drive is also captive, so fitting time could take up to three hours. Given the harsh environment and high temperatures, this was not a popular task amongst the engineers.

Solution:
NuTLink was fitted; this could be joined around the drive hence reducing fitting time to less than one hour. Also, due to its higher resistance to the heat, the belt lifespan significantly increased.
