Fenner Precision Polymers Employee Spotlight - Chad Enck

When something needs to get done Chad Enck is the first person to call for many people at Fenner Drives. Whether it involves construction, a work process or a problem as mundane as help with superglue, Chad is there to help. He has built that reputation throughout his 30 years with the company. His willingness and enthusiasm to get things done meshes perfectly with Chad’s role as the Continuous Improvement Engineer.  “I work with a team of engineers focused on removing waste from our processes, improving quality and decreasing lead time. In addition, we develop concepts and designs for new capital manufacturing equipment for new products or to improve capacity and efficiency,” Chad explains. He describes the best part of his job as “helping to provide equipment or process improvements that improve safety or efficiency while also removing reoccurring problems that frustrate our operators; these are the most rewarding.”

After 30 years, Chad has many fond memories of relationships with fellow associates throughout the years. “I enjoy seeing the development of those associates that not only performed well on the job, but also made the personal sacrifice to take classes on their own time and later grew and assumed leadership positions here at Fenner Drives.”

A great example of the personal sacrifice that Chad respects and which he regards as his favorite memory involves Jason Kongor. He explains, “I was taking a Race and Gender in the Workplace class at Penn State and we were given the assignment to ask numerous interview questions of someone that was not the same gender or race as you. I interviewed Jacob Kongor, who works in the HPC department. I learned about the challenges he faced escaping the religious wars in Sudan and that he had a wife and a daughter still there. Through learning this I assisted Jacob with fundraising and numerous people at Fenner Drives as well as outside of Fenner Drives kindly contributed to this private effort. There was much more involved than just securing funds. Jacob did most of the requirements and I assisted when needed, working with the Kenyan Embassy and dealing with a number of hurdles for Jacob to finally reunite with his wife and daughter in the US. Jacob and his wife have since had three more daughters and I am very happy for him and his family and proud he is still part of our Fenner Drives team.”

Chad is just as busy outside of work. He has been married for 28 years to his wife Mary-Chris and they raised their three adult sons in Manheim. His oldest, Dillan, is married and teaches 8th grade history at Manheim Central. Nathan is 26, married, and teaches 4th grade in the Central Dauphin School District. And his youngest son, Caleb, just received his Business Management degree, is 21 and is a licensed Auctioneer looking to start his own auction company.

Chad recently retired from coaching football and wrestling at the Manheim Central Jr and Sr. High School levels.  He is still an active member of the Manheim Borough community and he is currently a Borough Council member.

A big part of relaxation for Chad includes the great outdoors with his family. He states, “My

hobbies include archery hunting, fly fishing with my wife and sons, horseback riding, and playing the drums.”  Ask Chad how the fish are biting the next time you see him!
